2009 SCHOLARSHIP WINNER

STEPHANIE MUISE

The 2009, $500.00 scholarship was awarded to Stephanie Muise, a graduate of Essex Agricultural and Technical High School who graduated third in her class of 83, and majored in Environmental Science. A resident of Haverhill, MA and a member of the Ipswich Fish and Game Association, she participates in archery league and hopes to soon participate in trap shooting. In her spare time, you can find her hiking, riding horseback, shooting archery, SCUBA diving and participating in Native American cultural events as a fancy shawl dancer. Stephanie bow hunts, mainly hunting white tailed deer and would like to begin turkey hunting in the near future. For college, she was accepted to the United States Coast Guard Academy, from which she was honorably discharged for medical reasons. In light of this, she will be working towards a bachelor's degree in Environmental Science and Conservation Biology at Massachusetts Bay Community College in Wellesley, Mass. Future plans include attaining a Master's degree in Conservation Biology and pursuing a career at the National Parks Service in education and trail interpretation. Stephanie firmly believes that we are borrowing our environment from our children, and wishes to educate them in the ways of responsible management so that they may, in the future, share the outdoors with their children

The 2008  $500.00 Scholarship was awarded to Michael Champagne of Newburyport, MA, a 2008 graduate of Newburyport High School.  Mike's participation in outdoor activities, his successful completion of Basic and Bow Hunter Education classes from the Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife, his extracurricular activities in high school and his excellent Academic record make him well suited to pursue a career in outdoor activities.

2007 SCHOLARSHIP AWARD WINNER

This year’s scholarship was awarded to Nate Jillson of Ipswich, MA.  Nate graduated from The Essex Agricultural & Technical High School and will be entering UNITY College in Maine in September of this year.  Nate will be majoring in Parks & Recreation and Environmental Engineering at UNITY.  Nate’s understanding of the role of Sportsmen in the reintroduction of game species, the promotion of healthy wildlife populations and habitats and the vital requirement of healthy rivers in the continuing growth of salt and fresh water fisheries was instrumental in our having awarded him this scholarship.

We wish Nate the best of good fortune in his quest for continued education in these very important fields.
