IMPORTANT ON-LINE ANTLERLESS DEER PERMIT SALE UPDATE
Due to technical problems which caused a shutdown of many Massachusetts
state agency internet operations on Tuesday, October 10, sportsmen and
women holding hunting licenses purchased through Mass Outdoors, the
state's on-line license sales system, found themselves "locked
out" of the on-line antlerless deer permit sales. These on-line
license holders will have another opportunity to purchase permits and
use them for the upcoming archery deer season beginning next Monday,
October 16.
Antlerless deer permits for zones 9, 10, 11, 13 and 14, which were
specifically allocated for on-line license buyers, will go on special
sale over the counter on Thursday morning, October 12. These permits
will be available only to individuals holding licenses purchased on-line
prior to Oct 10th. Permits will be available at Fisheries & Wildlife
District offices in Acton, Myles Standish State Forest, Buzzards Bay,
West Boylston, Belchertown, Pittsfield and at the Division's Field
Headquarters in Westborough beginning at 8 AM on Thursday, October 12.
Hunters may purchase 1 permit/zone/day until quotas are reached. To
purchase a permit, hunters must present their online 2006 hunting or
sporting license and the $5.00 fee. A person may take other hunters'
on-line license(s) and purchase permits for them.
Checks made out to "Deer Permit" or cash only will be
accepted. Credit cards are not accepted at the offices. As in the past,
permits will be issued on a first come, first served basis.
The on-line permit sales system will resume operations October 13th for
selling permits in zones 10, 11, 13 and 14.
